Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.

Prompt response:  I really don't know one thing that makes me different. Maybe I'm more introvert... I don't know. Summary:  Today, we completed 3 CommonLit assignments Reflection:  I learned how to use stories to get better at comprehension.

Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt response:  A metaphor I would use to describe my own mind would be being stuck in traffic . I would use this because right now, I'm just in a state where I'm procrastinating on everything and also getting bored. I acknowledge that this will be over soon, and I will be happy with being more on top of things and having fun. Summary:  Today, we completed 3 CommonLit assignments. Reflection:  I learned how to use stories to get better at comprehension.

Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

Prompt response:  An adventure I would like to go on would be a wild adventure. More specifically, I would like to go on an adventure that has lots of fun things to deal with. Summary:  We did a quiz in class today, it was very hard (just kidding, all of the answers were A). Reflection:  I learned that we should be ready for sudden quizzes. Also, I learned that if there appears to be a pattern in the answers, we should stick with it.

Describe something you will never fully understand.

Prompt response:  I will never fully understand why and how stories are made up. Like, the elements of a story that is made up is complex. Thus, it often gets difficult to determine how the small parts are made up and put together into something big. Summary:  Everybody presented today. Reflection:  I got to learn about different creative origin myths made up by classmates. I might use this knowledge to know what really is in an origin myth.

Write about something that you wish you had more of.

Prompt response:  There are a few things I wish had more of. One of them is that I want to have more fun with my friends than I ever had before. In the past, I didn't have a lot of fun with my friends without being crazy (I know I need to stop being too crazy when being with friends). Oftentimes, I would run out of things to talk to my friends, sometimes because I was too shy. Summary:  Today I made up an origin myths quiz. Reflection:  I learned about another origin myth and I tried my best to comprehend it. This affected me because I got better at comprehending origin myths.

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

Prompt response:  There were many creative things I made. However, I want to highlight one of my works from earlier this year. Below is my sample yearbook spread from when I tried to get into yearbook back then. It stands out as my best work because I made up a lot of things that are silly, and overall, I think what I made looked neat and amazing. Summary:  I worked more on creating my own origin myth. Reflection:  I learned that there are many different ways origin myths could be made up. This affected my knowledge because I know now that I could make up more origin myths if I want to.

Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

Prompt response:  I had a few questions about life. One of them: Why do we see and feel the world like we do now? I often asked myself that question because sometimes when I was idle I started wondering about what existence is. I also wondered if each human perceived the world differently (like seeing colors or hearing noises differently). It's a mystery I wonder because I have no way to see how someone perceives the world in relation to mine. Summary:  Today we started on our own origin myths. Reflection:  I learned that there are many different ways origin myths could be made up. This affected my knowledge because I know now that I could make up more origin myths if I want to.

Describe a time you felt completely lost.

Prompt response:  A time I felt completely lost was when I was confused about a project. I was so lost that I fell behind on everything. And when it was time to present, I wasn't ready to present. Summary:  Today in class we did presentations on "The Jealous Father" assignment. Reflection:  I learned more about the meanings of "The Jealous Father." It impacted me because I know more about what jealousy means in the story.

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Prompt response:  I've adapted to the demands of this course over the past week in a few ways. One way is that I know now to get in the habit of writing blog posts every day there is class. One strength I anticipate is that when there is a story that covers a topic I am mainly interested in, I tend to be a great reader there, as I have before. On the other hand, one challenge I anticipate this year is that I don't like reading, so I often will procrastinate on assignments in this class like I did before in the 9th and 10th grade Lit classes. Summary:  I was absent again today, but I heard that there was a quiz on origin myths today. Reflection:  I was absent, so I did not do the quiz today.

Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt response:  I don't have much experience with relationships, but I can recall a few situations where I felt jealous of my friends. Often, I get a jealous feeling when a girl I know is in love with someone else. I am that way because I have never been in a relationship, and I have a desire for me to be in one. Summary:  I was absent from class today, but I heard that there was a group activity on "The Jealous Father," which I did read. Reflection:  I learned that it's not always good to be too jealous that you start to do bad things. I might use this knowledge to make sure I won't do anything bad when I get jealous.

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Prompt:  There is a meaningful object that carries a story I would like to share. So, when I was, like, in Kindergarten, I started having this weird obsession on elevators. At that time, I was very interested in elevators. It gave me the idea of being an elevator engineer, something I'm still considering doing as a job. Summary:  In class we read about the Navajo Creation Myth. Reflection:  I learned about a story on the Navajo people. This impacted me because now I have more knowledge on Navajo myths.

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt response:  I remember a time I felt connected to nature. Occasionally, when I go on hikes, I get connected with nature. But, I wasn't as connected to nature as a time I went to hike to a waterfall. I was so immersed with the nature that I felt like I couldn't leave it. Summary:  I was absent today, but I heard that there was a lesson on Native American literature. Reflection:  I learned a lot about Native American literature and culture. I might use what I learned to recognize that Native American literature should be appreciated.
